of course, you don't take much physical money; you tell your bank you are going there and you use cash machines, you just take a 'float' of E100 or so to start you off.

waterpark prices are online. Otherwise assume British prices, less about 10% for meals out, less a bit more if you eat local food, more if you want to eat British food.

You can get cash cards which you load with money, then use as you would a debit card, you don't get charged any fees for spending in shops and restaurants, but do if taking cash from machines. It is better if getting cash from the machine to get for example one lot of 200 euro (one transaction fee) than two lots of 100 euro (two transaction fees) They are safer as they are not linked in any way to your bank account. You can get them at travel agents and the post office. You do need to keep track of what you have spent so that you won't have insufficient funds during a transaction which could be embarrassing! Ours is the Thomas Cook cash passport card.

We usually take a mixture of cash, travel cash card and credit card. DH has a Halifax clarity credit card where you can specify a credit limit, that way if it is stolen and used they can't run up a massive debt. He only uses it when on holiday.
