Anyone got any top tips for a day out in the Milton Keynes area (or maybe beyond)

Sounds unlikely I know. My sister and I are planning to meet up just for a day in half term and MK is roughly midway as well as being handy for the M1. We usually go to Gullivers which is fab but we were there end August and cannot face it again.
I was thinking of a walk in a fancy park or similar, lunch in a nice pub and then an afternoon activity. Any good Nat Trust places there? Or maybe a full day somewhere if there is anywhere. It needs to be equidistant from Derby and London and ideally handy for M1 or maybe M40.
Children are 7, 7, 5, 4 and 3 btw (phew! not all mine of course).
All suggestions gratefully received.

Hi,
Salcey forest is good if you fancy a walk. There are varying lengths of walk and also a treetop walk, there is also a great cafe serving sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc. Also Rookery farm is a great place for kids but wont take long to go round, the food is not great there (IMO).
Still thinking so will get back to you

At Leighton Buzzard (not far at all from Milton Keynes) is Mead Open Farm - which is EXCELLENT! Lots of indoor and outdoor activities, check out their website for full details etc. Would be suitable for all the ages of the children and you can get lunch etc there as well.

Hope that helps.
