We stayed at the Covent Garden Travelodge on Drury Lane last Friday night (DH and I and our three kids - technically you should only have two kids but nobody batted an eyelid). It was absolutely fine - basic but clean and comfortable beds and a fairly large room. It was £89 for the night. Staff were friendly and polite (far more so than the 4/5 star hotels DH and I have stayed in recently in London!!). I would definitely stay there again - great location. You can book online on the Travelodge website.

Hi there
I've spent ages looking into this as we're planning a trip next month. I recommend Trip Advisor - great website with user reviews. On the basis of that we're going for the Holiday Inn Kensington. Not exactly full of character but supposed to be really good for families, good size rooms, central location. Hope this is helpful.

I stayed here when I first arrived in the UK - close to Oxford street, hyde park and very quick walk to tube station - from memory it was the central line.

here

owners - fab - very welcoming, breakfast was fab.

Great base for me to explore London

eidsvold, did you all stay in one room? was it large enough for a double+ a single + a cot?

sorry I was by myself but there were families staying there when I was there. Often came across them at breakfast - great atmosphere and the kids were fab.

Certainly single room was big enough for me and all my wordly goods - included homewares shopping I did as well as a number of suitcases etc. SO imagine family rooms must provide you with enough space.

i'll call them and check the rates out. thanks.

Just coming back to this thread in case it's useful to anyone else. We'd planned on Holiday Inn Kensington (see below) but then decided to go to the Parkcity Hotel on the basis of good reviews. We just got back and I have to say this is an absolutely wonderful hotel. Took DS (16 months), who loved it.
Not cheap (c.£150) but the rooms are a good size, ultra plush fittings and toiletries, spotlessly clean and to-die-for breakfasts. Staff were extremely friendly. It's a grown up boutique-type hotel but very baby-friendly too, quiet and well placed for the museums etc. DS got given a teddy and his cot was turned down at night! I would recommend it to anyone.
