First Choice Holiday Village Paphos, Cyprus

I am looking to book a family holiday in July/August.

We have been to a couple of the Holiday Villages before, and I am looking at the Paphos in Cyprus one for this year. What we like about these HV is that my DC really enjoy the evening entertainment and we can sit down and have a drink whilst the DC are being entertained.

I am wondering if anyone has been to this resort, and can give me some feedback. The reason for asking is that my DH has mobility issues and finds walking for more than 10 minutes quite hardgoing. If you have been do you think the complex is too large if he does have impaired walking? If you think it would be ok where would you recommend we stay within the complex. I am also trying to accommodate my DC who want to be near the splash pool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't been to Cyprus but have been to 4 others. Kos is quite a small site and would be easily manageable. has a splash pool, nice beach etc. Also been to turkey, Egypt and Tunisia if you want opinions.

You would probably get more specific advice on tripadvisor.
I went to Paphos last year in May/June and it was 30 degrees, august will be very very hot.
We stayed at the Louis Phatheon hotel which was all inclusive, food was great but the rooms were a little small and tired.

Thank you Hersetta427 and ihatethecold for replying to my question.

We have been to the Holiday Villages in Majorca (old) and Menorca.

My DC love the Wiggetts and I 5 Live in the evening.

I am now wondering on Majorca (new one), Lanzarote, Costa del Sol or Kos.

Hersetta427 did you enjoy Kos? Also, what was Turkey like?

Trying to please everyone!!

Hi,

Kos is very nice. Food good and lots of authentic greek food daily if you want it, drinks were good and all day ice cream and slushes for the kids. It is small enough that we let DD (who was 6) go and get her own drinks etc.

Not madly keen on the amphitheatre as the steps are quite steep. However Kos is much nice than Turkey - it is the only HV we wouldn't return to - the food was pretty rubbish and the sunbeds are crammed like sardines around the pool. Not for us.

It you want the best pools and beach then have a look at Tunisia. The pools are lovely, it has 7 large water slides and smaller slides for under 5's. Staff were amazing - so helpful. We went twice in 2014 and this year we are going back to Egypt and Kos. Have heard good things about the new Majorca one, but we only go to the ones with their own beaches, with sunbeds and beach bar so that cuts more than 50% of them out.

Another thing that puts me off lanzarote is that evening entertainment is inside so it is hot and stuffy. There is no way I want to be sitting indoors in August.

Babysbreath · 23/01/2015 10:34

Hersetta427 thank you for your feedback it is most appreciated.

Lanzarote is now out with regard to the indoor entertainment. Also, Turkey seems not the place to visit either. So I think we will now look at Kos.

Great. If you have any questions just ask. I would definitely look at Tunisia too. It is bigger than kos but the pools and beach are much nicer.

We loved the Aliathon!

It is fairly spread out but very flat and well paved. Ideally you would want to be in the Fishing Village somewhere near the sloping beach. That way everything would be in easy reach. The kids clubs and play area and the splash pool is then on one side and the entertainment and food is on the other.

Reception is a bit of a trek but you can call them rather than go there and they drove everyone around on the golf carts anyway if they needed it.

DD loves the Widgets too Smile

MissWimpyDimple thank you for your reply - you have now made swing back to Cyprus from Kos. Grin My DC love the thought of the pirate ship in the pool!

MissWimpyDimple are you able to tell me where about the "sloping beach" section is within Fishing Village complex?

Thank you

Been to Hv Rhodes- would suggest mobility access is good-flat with ramps
Would recommend ground floor tropical or deluxe area
