Lots of stuff to do in Leeds! Will you be driving? In the city centre there's Leeds City Museum. I took my niece there when she was 2ish and she loved it. There's a big bit to walk round with life size animals and lots of things to look at. There's also Thackary Medical Museum which is just outside the centre which you wouldn't really think was good for small children but they LOVE it. If you're driving you can go to Roundhay Park and Tropical World (there's fish and meerkats etc) although it wouldn't take long on the bus to get there. Harewood House has a fabulous play area and penguins and tropical birds which is good.

Hi Felix!
Thanks so much for your replies, that is really helpful!
We will most probably drive.

Given this, can we get away with staying in a cheaper less central hotel?

Probably, but if you're wanting to go in to the city centre a lot just be aware that parking is extremely expensive.

Temple Newsam - visit the farm, have a little walk, play on the playground. (Free parking but farm has a charge)

Kirkstall Abbey - quite small but great for a toddler to roam about, visitor centre has dressing up and little things to play with. Museum over the road with nice cafe.

There's not much for little ones in the city centre but a lot of it is pedestrianised and just to add that the museum has an under-5s play area on the 2nd(?) floor - great for having a breather. The bottom floor with the stuffed animals is great for kids. The Art Gallery has a play area with a few things to do and sometimes they have extra things on. (sorry, can't string a sentence together...)

Definitely Trop World - it's a corker.

My first thought would be Tropical World at Roundhay Park.

Ditto expensive parking. DD and I went to Leeds in November and it cost me about £7.50 for 3 hours.

Eureka museum in Halifax is great for toddlers and only half an hour away.

You can park in the merrion centre for £1 an hour for the first 3 hours until the end of Feb. It's normal prices after 3 hours though.
