Croatia , can anyone suggest somewhere nice to stay that's not too expensive ?

Fancy going back to Croatia , it has been 25 years since I last went and wondered if anyone had any suggestions , both for a family holiday and a DH and I short break ?

We loved Zagreb and stayed in a hostel apartment type thing. Not sure I'd recommend it though! We also loved plitvice national park and imagine this would be great for families. On the coast we stayed in the mare nostrum in sveti petar and highly recommend it. Near the beach and the food was fantastic. This was all a few years back though so things may have changed.
