Ideas for villa holiday for approx 16 in Europe

I organised a villa holiday for 16 last summer in a villa about 8 miles from Tavira in the East Algarve. It was very successful and we'd like to repeat it this summer. However, a few of our party have expressed a preference for somewhere that is closer to a town/village (walking distance) and preferably the same distance to the beach.

It definitely needs to be down here with villas as opposed to apartment/hotel complexes and fairly quiet. Pubs and clubs are not really on the agenda.

Not keen on France and for complicated reasons, Turkey is out. All suggestions gratefully received.

Yes, a quick look as we've booked lots of time via them, but it's more having a recommendation for a specific location. We're stuck in a rut Grin

Have a look at casa das Flores in Valle de parra (20 mins from albufeira)

SorrelForbes · 24/01/2015 17:29

Thanks. That looks very nice but unfortunately it's not quite big enough.

try www.cuatrefinques.com
nice part of spain, walking distance to nice village, designed for group hols (i went for a posh hen weekend but would work great for extended family)

I think I've pretty much tried every website there is! There are some lovely properties on Top Villas but nothing within budget for the dates/number of people.

I've got a short list of villas now for Spain and Portugal but haven't managed to find anywhere in Spain that ticks all the boxes on everyone's wish lists! The one's I've found that are 'OK' are defintely not up to the standard we had in Portugal last year. It's hard as due to family groups and ages/sexes of children we need 7 rooms, 4 of which need to be doubles, and at least 5 bathrooms.

www.cuatrefinques.com - looks lovely but we really need somewhere that's completely self-catering (i.e. large villa with massive kitchen and outside BBQ/grill for evening meals.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Have you tried owners direct.co.uk?

SorrelForbes · 25/01/2015 13:50

Yep, tried Owners Direct, HomeAway, VRBO and lots and lots of smaller sites. wishing we could just go back to the place we went to last year

Is it one huge villa or a couple side by side?

SorrelForbes · 25/01/2015 15:43

Needs to be one huge villa or at a push one villa with an annex. Basically there needs to be enough room in one property for everyone to sit and eat together.

The 'idea' (if in Spain) would be:

4 doubles (must be en-suite), 3 other bedrooms (preferably, two twins and a triple) with at least one bathroom between them.

No further than 2k to beach and town/restaurant/bar.

Near enough to visit Barcelona on a day trip and for another trip to water park (Porta something?)

Air con in all rooms, wi-fi, parking, pool, bbq.

£3000 max for week.

We stayed here last year and, IMHO, it was perfect.

That's a big task for you finding something like that.
The reason I ask is that we were looking for something similar (but ended up booking individually but meeting up for meals etc). We looked at this as it ticks all the boxes and is in the area we love. Ticks all our boxes and free shuttles run to the water park etc from the town centres.

Behooven · 25/01/2015 16:38

Blush at using ticks all the boxes twice

SorrelForbes · 25/01/2015 16:46

Behooven I love being bossy organising things like this but this time it's proving trickier, due I think to people wanting to be in a busier location. We can't book individually as the groups are intertwined (we have SiLs that are also best friends, teenage nephews that are now adults and can't share with cousins etc. etc.) so I've had to confine the search to huge villas.

I'm happy to share my list of Portugal 'finds' if you let me have your email address Grin

That's the lovely thing about big extended families. Flowers
