Southern Brittany

Looking for a summer holiday - don't want to travel too far and can't be faffed with flying. Its our last chance to go outside school holidays before eldest is at school. Thought about South Brittany and was considering either Eurocamping (in a caravan - my days of camping are over. I'm no princess, all I ask is for a toilet and a shower that I don't have to trek to a communal block for) or a gite with a pool.

I don't know where to start so hoping someone could help! I'm scared with gites that they could be a bit hit and miss, whereas at least with Eurocamp I guess they would be more like Pizza Express i.e. nothing hugely special but decent enough and you know what you're getting? Although it's been about 30 years since I've been Eurocamping so I may be wrong.

What's Eurocamping like these days? Does anyone have any nice resorts they've been to? Or gites?

Thanks in advance!

ukcampsites.co.uk has reviews of the sites. look at the different suppliers - one of those also has reviews - canvas holidays, keycamp, eurocamp. look at the facilities available and you also want to try and gauge how big the pitch size is. go for the largest mobile you can afford

south brittany is lovely and has better weather than north. beaches are great and the towns/villages very pretty.

we have been to la grand metairie a couple of times - mainly because we like the area. its quite a large/busy site - not one of our top favourites, but it did the job. there's one nearer the lovely men du beach - but this sounded a bit more squashed up in the reviews.

Thank you. I think I'm going to need a spreadsheet to keep track of them all Smile

We have a gite near Vannes, and live here too. If you have any questions about particular areas I'm happy to help.

Have a look at Eco Gites (Google it) - not sure of its exact location but I like the look of their place.

Also, check out Carisma holidays. We've been with them before - they have slightly smaller campsites all over France. We were very happy with them.
