I thought I saw this resort on the TV last year but despite massive googling I can't find it. Might've been Michael Portillo on a train.

Might be Spain, seaside resort with character and not over commercialised, a cable car or funicular that takes you up a mountain (or big hill) and close by or nearish to caves and medieval walled town.

I imagined it didn't I?

Was it Montserrat? (Near Barcelona)
