Can someone help me with London travel???

I'm coming to London next Saturday with SIL for her hen do.
Theres 7 of us and we're travelling down on the train to Kings Cross. We're staying at the Grange Holburn on Southampton Row and we're wanting to check in as soon as we arrive.

What I'm trying to sort out is getting a taxi from Kings Cross to the hotel as SIL was talking of doing the tube but I don't really fancy it with all our luggage.

So what I want to know is firstly could we get a taxi big enough to fit 7 of us in plus luggage and if we did do the tube, is there a direct one to get us near to the hotel or do we have to do more than one?

how much luggage have you got?

I can't remember how far down the grange is (have a feeling it is nearer Holborn tube than Russell Square) but you are walking distance from Kings Cross unless you have loads of luggage.

otherwise, you just get the picadilly line down from Kings Cross to Holborn (it's on the same line)

Do you know whereabouts in Southampton Row?

Have a look at the TfL journey planner

Does that help at all? If not, come back!

Ahh right.
Well we are only there till monday but us girlys are a nightmare with clothes and shoes

So we could even walk it from the station?
How far would you say it is in mins?

piccadilly line (excuse my poor spelling) - it's only 2 stops from Kings Cross so not far. Around a 20-25 minute walk. You wouldn't get 7 in a black cab so you'd need 2 I would think.

Lio · 14/10/2006 16:31

There's a taxi rank there for black cabs - how about first taxi takes three of you plus as much luggage as poss, next one takes four of you and the rest of the bags? Have a great time!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:33

Would it be expensive for the cabs?

So the tube from kings cross to holburn, only 2 stops. Right.

I think i need to figure out where the hotel is in regards to the tube.

tbh, you wouldn't want to walk it if you had a heavy bag - the tube should be fine even with luggage (as long as it isn't rush hour) - the piccadilly line is the one that goes to Heathrow so often lots of people on it with mahooosive cases

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:37

I think our train gets us to kings cross around 2:30pm so no rush hour.

I've found a website for hte hotel \link{http://www.grangehotels.com/grange_holborn_hotel/holborn_map.htmhere, with directions etc}

Looks proper posh!

foxinsocks · 14/10/2006 16:38

no the cab won't be that much - it's really only round the corner from Kings Cross station.

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:38

Thanks for that

Roll on Saturday

grange hotel

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:39

(and secretly I am a big wuss and hate the tube)

there are buses that go right past that hotel from Kings Cross if that's more your cup of tea

otherwise, just get a cab and enjoy your weekend!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:40

Yeah thats the one. Does look a bit posh doesn't it
