Not really sure what you want to know! If you're with a small child, head straight for the trainer rink (far end, nearest the river) and grab a polar bear before they all get taken. All the children tend to congregate there. Take gloves. There's a cloakroom where you leave any bags (I think it cost £1). And have a great time!

ElizabethHoover The thought of ice skating scares the crap out of me but my daughter lives to ice skate. I think she would say if you don't want to be like a hamster book some lessons with a coach and learn some field moves to make it more interesting.
