I'm going to Centreparcs at the weekend. Can you think of anything I might forget to pack?

I've got washing-up liquid and breakfast things, swimming towels and wellies, kagouls and books, a camera and bikes.I've never been before - what did you wish you'd taken when you went there?

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 10/10/2006 20:36

deff a torch!..we had a planned power cut whilst there and yove never known dark like it!

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 20:36

I went once and there was no iron, I had to bike my stuff to a laundry room kind of thing to use one there. I am a bit of an ironing freak Take locks for your bikes.

MrsMuddle · 10/10/2006 20:37

Excellent! I'll add them both to my pile. I wouldn't have thought of either of those.

phone charger?

dyzzidi · 10/10/2006 20:38

Definately a torch! Teatowels and dishcloths are a must for me. Scissors can come in handy too.

dyzzidi · 10/10/2006 20:41

Oh and carton/bottle drinks for the kids after swimming as it can be quite expensive after the pool. I have just spent last weekend in grange over sands (cumbria) and it rained the entire weekend so if you are going to whinfell pack a couple of umbrellas and hats etc.

Cackle · 10/10/2006 21:24

A couple of big mugs for a decent cup of tea. Sports cups for the kids. A DVD player. Duraflame logs - v. expensive in shop. Plastic bags to cover your bike seats.

Have a lovely time.

Skribble · 10/10/2006 22:09

Stuff like tinfoil, cooking oil and salt and pepper. Depends how much self catering you plan to do.

I am off to a cottage on Sat so I should start planning too.

MrsMuddle · 10/10/2006 22:16

Thank you. I ALWAYS forget a phone charger! Yes, we are going to Whinfell, so I'm anticipating wet weather. Bags to cover the bike seats is a great idea. Evilannie, I haven't ironed for years , so I won't need an iron. But I wouldn't have thought to take bike locks. Oh, you're all so organised. I am the world's worst packer - both in terms of remembering what to take (I either go overboard and take everything or go minimal and don't even take essentials) and also actually physically packing. DH usually does it.

scissors and large cereal bowls - the ones supplied are tiny.

nebthenoob · 10/10/2006 22:21

We took three kids to Center Parcs and dh put one child into the car with no shoes on, so funnily enough when we arrived she didn't have any shoes... so don't forget shoes, as it's a bit pricey replacing trainers at the CP shop

WellaWellaWellaHuh · 10/10/2006 23:14

Sugar - My DW compulsively obsessively collects sachets of sugar "they'll come in for center parcs". I'm thinking of hiring a trailer..

We went to center parcs in March, & when we got there, there was no iron, soap, towels or toilet paper!!
We complained & eventually they provided them for us, but apparantly only the de-lux places have these luxuries provided!
Also, if you like to sleep with more than one pillow, pack extra!

supplies to make your own breakfast & quick meals.

boomie · 11/10/2006 14:40

we've been to Whinfell loads of times and just wanted to add that the on-site shop is great - sells everything you need (that you forgot!) and is fairly reasonably priced - have an ace time

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 11/10/2006 18:07

second that boomie!

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 11/10/2006 18:10

a sharp knife if you're doing any self-catering -theres nothing worse than trying to slice an onion with a knife that would struggle to cut through butter !

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 11/10/2006 18:12
