Am looking for a gite in Normandy preferably near the coast - in the Manche area rather than the D-day beaches area. It needs to sleep 8 adults & 3 kids but we could divide into 2 neighnouring properties. Has anyone stayed somewhere like this that they could recommend? Am trawling the sites but have only found 1 good one so far.....

we've used bargaingites.com and they were excellent. not sure what they have in normandy, but they're very reasonable usually

Search on www.gites-de-france.fr(sorry cna't do link).

Have booked several Normandy gites through them, but not size/location you are after.

a word of warning...! If you come across a gite in the grounds of 'chateau de fretay' AVOID. i reviewed it and if you want to see why (and pics!!) go to this

laurawaterford · 13/10/2006 14:58

my link to tripadvisorco.uk doesnt appear to be working (and i was pleased with myself too!!) sorry

laurawaterford · 13/10/2006 15:00

i'm embarrassed that i'm here again leaving another message. However I am serious about chateau de fretay. As I was checking my link, I noted another review from earlier this month clearly even tho the authorities in france want to close the place down, the place is still operating so beware!!!!

Blandmum · 15/10/2006 17:14

Please have a look at the one I posted. the gite is lovely and the owner is so kind and friendly. Really makes the kids feel at home. If you stay a while the father will often taken them round the farm on his tractor etc.

It is nce and close to Bayeux, smashing place.
