Suggestions for first holiday (honeymoon) with 4 month old baby

Hello

We're expecting our first baby in late December and have a wedding planned for late April 07.

We're thinking about Southern Europe (logic = want to stay in EU as a bit nervous about travelling with a little baby in case he's ill etc and don't want a long journey).

As it's a honeymoon we'd like somewhere classy and romantic - hate resorts.

My ideal would be something like a gite in Southern France - where we could be self-catering and have some space outside. Lots of little villages to visit nearby, ideally a nice coast for walking. We love walking and landscapes more than shopping - food is good. However we always go to France and it might not be warm enough so we're thinking Italy - possibly Puglia - but I don't know it at all. Or Southern Spain.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The Italian lakes start to warm up around Easter time. Lovely scenery, romantic and mountain walks nearby.

try Inntravel (independent travel agency). Some interesting self-catering places that might be your kind of thing, and other holidays
