Has anyone been here?

Did you use the watersports centre?

Was it any good?

How much did it cost?

Thanks
K

I went to the Hyatt next door. Yes I used the Waterworld centre to have my first go at scuba diving.

Katymac · 06/10/2006 14:20

Did you see how much the sailing was??

I cannot recall how much the sailing was. My day's scuba introduction cost £55. I pre-booked it at the time I booked the holiday.

The waterworld website might have prices...

www.redseawaterworld.com

I cannot do links, sorry. But that web address is off the pen I nicked from there

Katymac · 06/10/2006 14:35

Thanks I have emailed them

You will love it... amazing place.. coral and amazing fish all right up to the beach... like swimming in an aquarium!

Katymac · 07/10/2006 07:46

What was the beach like? Sandy/pebbly?

The beaches attached to the hotels are man made and neat and tidy. The waterworld beach is quite shingly and steep, but ok.

To swim in the sea, you need to walk out on the jetty and down the steps. You are not allowed to enter the sea from the beach as you would be walking on coral and damaging it.

Its lovely.... i'd go back there tomorrow if I could.

Katymac · 07/10/2006 21:09

Sounds lovely

Oh I hate booking holidays - I always get it wrong

haven't been to sofitel but stayed at the Marriot at Taba Heights a few years ago and it was excellent. Taba Heights is a desert apart from the hotels so nothing to do outside hotel complex, but great base for excursions and did snorkeling etc. We booked through Peltours who were excellent

beetroot · 08/10/2006 17:42

yes yes I have been and the water sports centre is off site. a bus ride away but it is fabulous

Cost us a Christmas 3500 for 6 for a week

beetroot · 08/10/2006 17:42

the hotel is fabulous.

beetroot · 08/10/2006 17:43

the food is fantastic

the service is wonderful

HowwwlidaymumsSalemSpecials · 09/10/2006 09:20

I stayed as a guest of the hotel on an educational trip, I'm a travel agent.

Also visited the Hyatt and the Marriott, plus others in the area.

I liked it as a hotel, have to admit I prefered the Marriott and the Hyatt but only just. The family rooms at the Sofitel are lovely. The communal areas at the other 2 are better.

Watersports centre was good too, did intro scuba, diving there is nice and quiet compared to Sharm.

Make sure you go as a package if you book. Peltours who hosted us are excellent and have been going to the area for years, they introduced the area to the UK and the customer service they offer and expertise is fantastic.

I went with Longwood Holidays... it was a deal in the Sunday Times. I would recommend Longwood highly.

HowwwlidaymumsSalemSpecials · 09/10/2006 09:39

Agree they are good too, they are usually second on my list!

themoon666 · 09/10/2006 09:40

All the holidays companies there were excellent to be honest. Apart from Thompson.... it was only Thompson guests I saw complaining.

Katymac · 09/10/2006 14:36

Hmmm still deciding

You should go! I'd go back deffo. Weather nice in winter, sea is lovely, food good, entertainment good.

What are your concerns?

Katymac · 09/10/2006 17:18

I want sailing & a kids club

But I didn't think the dates that neilson do in Dahab were suitable - so I was looking elsewhere

But the watersports here don't do dinghies - & I can't do Cats so I think Neilson might be my only option

That looks nice - but no sailing......I am too demanding

We stayed in Eilat 2km the other side of the border, we sailed past Taba, and have to say glad we went to Eilat as so much more freedom, bars, restaurants, shops, swimming with dolphins etc

Katymac · 10/10/2006 17:46

Still undecided

have you checked out www.holidays-uncovered.com ?? (cannot do links, sorry)

I always check out hotels on there before I make a decision. It's never let me down yet.
