Love Berlin! For less obvious things to do, if you have more than a couple of days it is worth a trip to Pottsdam - about half an hour on the sBahn - lovely little shops and local restaurants and Sansoucci park is beautiful. Plus interesting historical sites - Schloss Cecilienhof and the Glienlicke Bridge. Very do-able in a day.

Try booking a tour of the Bundestag online, here before you go - it's free! Grin

We did a 'free walking tour' which was amazing. The guides basically live off their tips/what you decide the tour was worth so they really do a good job and you get to see so much of the city all on foot. Would definitely recommend.

Go to KaDeWe and visit the top floor for a coffee. It is a department store with the most amazing food hall and a coffee shop with views over the rooftops.

Visit the Memorial To The Murdered Jews Of Europe. You walk through the memorial which is made of large blocks representing the rise of Nazism. As they get taller around you, you begin to feel them looming over you, it is easy to lose sight of those you are with and you meet strangers unexpectedly round corners; it is the only memorial that has ever made me feel so vulnerable and emotional. There is a visitor centre underneath it.

Lots of stuff near Checkpoint Charlie about communism and the cold war

We did a walking tour of Berlin which I highly recommend, took about 4hours but was ace
