We are thinking of going on a visit to see the poppies but not sure if there is an entrance fee?

Free - and gorgeous - but likely to be very busy so be prepared to be patient!

hulahoopsilove · 26/10/2014 13:11

I think they're there till Remembrance Day. Free to view but busy during weekends, I've been down a few times to watch as they 'grow'. Last time was late at night and it's not exactly lit up but it was quiet and very atmospheric.

Definitely worth going to see. You know you can buy one as well?

I don't see how it could be closed to the public. Viewing is from Tower Bridge, the footpath from Tower Hill station, the open space in front of the Tower by the ticket offices, and from the main road. There is an entrance fee for the Tower itself, but the poppies are in the moat that surrounds the castle.

yes it's free but when I was there at a weekend it got very busy

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/10/2014 16:07

Yes it is free to view.

It will be dismantled on November 11th so you will need to see it before then.

PingPongBat · 26/10/2014 18:14

They've sold out of the poppies according to the website Sad.

I was hoping to sneak off to see them over half term, but looks like my only opportunity might be on the 11/11 at about 4pm, and I'm not sure it will still be light at that time of day. Also it may be very crowded as it's remembrance day itself. Attila's right - the whole thing is being dismantled from 12th Nov and packed up for delivery to the lucky people who have bought one.

I bought one Smile. Very happy. They should have charged more, really.

BehindLockNumberNine · 26/10/2014 18:25

I have bought one, for dh, as a present.

We were going up today to visit but did not manage it. Going to go up next sunday instead. I know it will be busy, but cannot manage it at any other time.

Have been watching them 'grow' via internet, amazing idea, just beautiful.

BOOreOfWOOObylon · 26/10/2014 18:28

I've bought one too. Such a beautiful idea.

TheWordFactory · 26/10/2014 18:29

I bought one! Very beautiful!

Bowlers yeah I thought it was a pretty good deal too, they could definitely have charged more. To be able to own something that was part of a public artwork and act of remembrance is pretty cool, and the money went to good causes.
