Just a quick question if anyone knows please. To repell insects do you have to use citronella diluted in carrier oil on the skin or can you dot it onto clothing/bedding etc.? Ta!

I would dilute it a bit as it can be quite potent in its essential form - never apply neat to skin -
THe best thing to do for bedding etc is to dab some on cotton balls and then place under pillows - also try candles or citronella-infused gels or creams

You can also get these battery powered plastic ladybird things that emit beeps which supposedly replicate the damsel fly's sound, and terrifies mosquitoes so they stay away. Seemed to work ok.

There is a spray called Mosiguard which contains citronella. You spray it on your skin - it is very effective. Also I find taking anti-histamines before a during a holiday in a mosquito area helps too

Can get it in Boots

thank you for the replies. It's for ds as don't want to use anything too chemically on him. I use jungle formula because I get eaten alive but can't use that on under 6's.
