Bike Hire in Lucca

We are going to Italy next week and wanted to go to Lucca and hire bikes to cycle round the walls with our dds (8 and 6).

We have done it before, just me and DP, but will we find bikes for the dds? Dd2 has particularly short legs. Obviously we don't want to get their hopes up if we can't hire bikes for them.

I can't be certain but I seem to remember kids bikes for hire at tourist information last year. maybe have a look at their website.

You lucky things, we loved Lucca.

You can definitely hire kids bikes. We hired a tagalong/tailgator thing from a place visible from the walls - sorry I can't remember the name of it - would have been near one of the northern gates. Have a great time. Lucca is great - we went in 2013 for a couple of nights and going back again next year.

When we were in Lucca a few years ago I remember thinking how they seemed to have bikes set up for everyone. This was pre-DC so I didn't pay as much attention as I would now but definitely remember seats, tag along ones & kids' bikes.

We went in the summer. It's lovely there. There are quite a few rental places and there were kids bikes available in different sizes. My 8 year is pretty small (size of a 5/6 year old and she was fine on a small bike). It's about 4km round the perimeter walls. We hired bikes for an hour and easily made it round. Our rental place was near one of the entrance gates to the city. Have fun!

Brilliant, thanks for the information. We're off tomorrow, i'm so excited. And for once the weather forecast is good. We usually experience torrential rain at least once during October half term!
