Put this in camping but, quite understandably, it's a bit quiet over that way.

DS is going camping with Scouts and our ones just won't be warm enough as they're sleeping in tents. What would you recommend please? Budget £45 max. I want one of those really squashable ones so he can pack it easily. Many thanks.

Look at the reommendations on Amazon or Blacks. People who have recently bought a sleeping bag will give you the best specialist advice.

The really squashy ones are down, but they'll cost you more than £45.

guide to buying sleeping bags here. I'd get a 3 season bag at least, if not 4. Down is light, warm, expensive and squashy and useless when wet. Synthetic fillings are bulkier, cheaper and retain some insulation when wet.

Try Sports Direct. I bought Dd a Gelert 400 bag for £25 for her D of E and she said it was really warm.

Here's the link btw: www.sportsdirect.com/gelert-hibernate-400-sleeping-bag-781066?colcode=78106618
