Holland and Belgium - where should we stay?

We fancy a two-centre holiday next summer - can anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay in Holland and Belgium? Also, what are must-dos in both countries? We like wildlife, beaches, exploring. Not mad keen on holiday camps; would prefer houses.

Can't comment on Belgium but can recommend Bergen aan Zee or bergen and that area in general. It is under 2 hrs from Rotterdam. We usually stay in hotels and happy to recommend or maybe this site for holiday - www.aanzee.com/en/search/map

There is beautiful protected dune area that you can cycle through, huge choice of restaurants, the beach is fab long and sandy, there is also a aquarium. Close enough to Amsterdam to do the city thing. Alkmars cheese market is also worth a visit. There are lots of places to hire bikes and go native.

Must do list is always tricky to comment on but this summer revisited the overloon war museum, lots of tanks etc, my two DC found good both times. Next door to it is a large park with a climbing/rope place.
