Cala d'Or or Cala Ferrera

I'm getting myself into a right muddle with looking for an apartment in Majorca.
Can anyone explain the relationships ie distance between Cala d'Or, Cala Ferrera and Cala Egos and what facilities they have near by?
We want a place near the beach but that also has restaurants within walking distance as don't want to cook.
Cala Ferrera and Cala Egos come up again and again but I'm getting the impression most the restaurants are in Cala d'Or which is a good walk away. Am I wrong?
It's for me, DH and DS (12) and DD (8).

We stayed in Cala egos and only ate there once I think, there is definitely far more choice in Cala d'or. It is quite a walk, 30-40 minutes depending on exactly where you're heading to/from. A chunk of it is a lovely walk around the harbour though.

I've been to Cala D'or, it's fab. Don't know how far those places are from it.

I have been to Cala Dor and Cala Egos and I would definately go to Cala Dor.
Loads of places to eat and lovely beaches only minutes apart . Echo beach has a restuarant on the beach and they have live music in the summer.
I love Cala Dor.
I found Cala Egos a bit of a ghost town actually, lots of empty restuarants with people trying to entice customers in.

Interesting. Thank you all. Seems Cala Egos may not be the place for us after all.
Anyone any info on Cala Ferrera? Where have you stayed in Cala d'Or?

Cala d'or is a nice. From what I remember its quite touristy in the centre. We stayed at Sa Marina which led directly onto a little cove. It was a one bed apartment one bed apartment which had its own kitchenette, but I think it also does Half Board and AI. Eat there once. Good but lots of Germans who were not into queuing as we Brits are.

There are other hotels round that area, can't remember names, but google map that one and it should show others, that might have better facilities e.g. tennis courts for your kids ages. You can also cycle quite easily round the place.
