Just a quick question.
Does anyone know if it's ok to take a 5 week old baby on a 3 hour car journey?

Totally fine, just schedule a little stop in half way for a bum change/feed/cuddle.

I drove six week old dd and myself up to the scottish highlands - 7hrs it took us! and it was so cute she slept the whole way as the engine kept lulling her back to sleep. She couldnt fight against it. We stopped after every two hours as advised.

Fine, just do as above. Allow more time in case you need to stop to feed/ change.

At 3 hrs you might be lucky and can just feed beforehand and they sleep most the way

I would make plans for the journey to take at least 4-4 1/2 hours. If your baby sleeps drive as much as you can. If it is awake schedule decent stops so you can take it out of the car seat and put him/her down for a stretch.
