Where to go in America.

We went to San Francisco a couple of years ago and loved it.
I have a big birthday over Easter and I am thinking about going back to the US.
Where would anyone recommend? I don't have any desire to go to New York but I'm fairly easy other than that.

Boston and New England are fab! I also toured around Texas which I enjoyed too.

Bowlersarm · 04/10/2014 16:35

New Orleans?

Or Los Angeles/las Vegas/Grand Canyon.

I'm currently thinking Boston / New England Sailor.
Not sure about Texas - we are lefty atheist vegetarians, they would most likely have us shot at the boarder!

I'm just back from a trip to boston, New York and Washington, D.C. Probably enjoyed New York best although the others were great. Have also done boston, New England (mostly New Hampshire and Maine) and that was great too.

Would be lovely around Easter I think.

Florida keys? weather never got passed a 100 degrees lovely cool breeze chilled out relaxed and great in the conch republic. guaranteed the weather. or boston/new England but I would be worried about snow and not being able to get around easily.

I would sooner rain than heat TBH, I don't do well in heat.

Washington, D.C. - fab museums.
I loved Boston and combined this with a trip to Maine, but weather may not be ideal at Easter.
My favourite USA trip was a driving holiday - Los Angeles, San Diego, Scottsdale, Grand Canyon, Vegas, San Francisco - amazing scenery. Lots to do, great wine in napa.

Chicago? Haven't been yet, but would love to.

Places I have been and can recommend- Colorado, L.A. Las Vegas.
In Feb we are going to Miami, then a cruise to Key West and the Bahamas.

Utah is pretty amazing - Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Salt Lake City is worth a look too.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 10/10/2014 18:30

I loved Boston.

Or in a completely different vein, the Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is amazing.

If you go to Texas then go to Austin, which is where all the lefty atheist vegetarians hang out Grin.

Washington for the museums and monuments. Then tour the historic towns and countryside within easy reach. Boston and the coastal regions North of Boston are great but weather might be a bit iffy. Both of these are cosmopolitan cities. Definitely try LA and San Diego. Stay in Santa Monica, not LA, and Pasadena has lots to see too. Weather lovely in April. Food no problem there.

JustSayNoNoNo · 11/10/2014 23:24

I've heard good things about Colorado.

Loved Boston and New England but we did a fantastic Texas road trip ne year and took in San Antonio, Austin, forth worth and Dallas. Had an amazing time. People were so welcoming and friendly. Rodeos and country music bars in fort worth a highlight!

sailorsgal · 12/10/2014 09:37
