Looking at visiting family in Tokyo and air bnb accomodation looks affordable. Has anyone used them and what are do's and donts? Looking at a sole accomodation appartment. Thank you!

we've used airbnb several times when travelling with kids - much easier than hotels. I always look out for toys in the photos - indicates a child-friendly house. and you can message the owner to ask if the property is suitable for your age of children, and to check they are happy with kids.

be careful to look at things like the configuration of bedrooms. a flat that says it sleeps 4 but has 1 double room and 1 sofa bed in the lounge isn't necessarily going to work with kids. make sure you know how many rooms there are. And check for obvious hazards like stairs with no bannisters etc.

Also apartments in Japan generally speaking are very small in overall size.

We've been to Tokyo with DC twice and booked serviced apartments both times. One of the companies we used was Oakwood. It was a few years ago so before AirBNB was about but there were plenty of apartments to choose from.
