Anywhere similar to (and as good as) Duinrell?

We've just come back from a fantastic week at Duinrell park in holland. We'd like to again next year (for late August) but half the fun of a holiday is in exploring a new place, so wanted to see if there are any similar parks elsewhere that we could try. I know that centre parcs in Europe is similar but I don't want to have to pay for activities, as with Duinrell access to the theme park was included and provided endless entertainment for our children (6 and 2). The swimming pool was also fantastic, muh better than the CP one we've been to, tho that was in the Uk so not sure how the European ones compare.

We'd like to travel via ferry, preferably from Hull (so to Rotterdam or Zebrugge?) and we love Holland so would be very happy to return there, although Belgium or France may be good too, as long as there were no very long journeys.

I expect a return to Duinrell may be on the cards, but if anyone can recommend a similar set up elsewhere I'd be very grateful.

Glad to help. He should also be fine for most of the rides in the park, I think there was just two that DS was too short for. He was able to go on the scariest roller coaster (repeatedly!).

Hi, so i see you posted this in 2014, not much hope for a reply, but here goes. We have just returned from Duinrell, and similar to yourselves had a fantastic time. The free theme park was fantastic comsidering, and the water park was well worth the money. Anyway i notcied your quest for someth8ng similar or better in Europe, and wondered if you had any joy. Thanks 😊

We just kept going back to Duinrell, loved it so much ! Efteling is not the same ( though fab !!).
We always went off peak too so got great prices .
Think we will have to go again for nostalgia .

That's a coincidence! I was just browsing mumsnet as i'm bored at work, and spotted this thread which I started ten years ago!

To answer your question, we never did find anywhere as good as Duinrell. We went back a second time in 2016 and had just as much fun (and just as good weather in late Aug).

We've since been to Disney and universal in Florida which have obv been great, but you just can't beat Duinrell for fun and value for money for primary aged kids.

Kids are now 16 and 12 so a bit old for Duinrell, so we're off to Slovenia and Croatia this year 😊Although i'd love to take the 12 year old to Duinrell with a couple of her friends, i'm sure they'd have a great time.

Lalandia Billund is worth a look if you combine with Legoland

We've been to Duinrell and Efterling (within the past couple of years). As others have said, they're different. Duinrell is a holiday park with various activities and an incredible water park. Efterling is a theme park (that supposedly influenced Disney). My children love both (as do I). I think Duinrell is far superior to Center Parcs...and cheaper.

We've also been to Des Menhirs Eurocamp, near Carnac. The water areas there are no Duinrell or Center Parcs but we found it pleasant and with plenty to do outside the park itself.

We're looking for alternatives (just to try something new/see what's out there), hence finding this thread.

For a short weekend break, I really rated Plopsaland (& the adjoining Aqua Plop)!
