I'm looking for next summer, there will be four of us 2 adults and 2 DC.

We are happy to stay in the UK or drive to the Netherlands etc but not France. (although wouldn't want to drive too far once off the ferry)

Would we get anything nice for 1k? Would love to take DC to centre parks or similar but a weeks holiday there seems so expensive.

we stay HERE a lot. in cornwall on the south east coast about an hours drive from the end of the motorway at Exeter. they have a swimming pool, farm animals and a play barn. near to beaches as well. not sure about next school summer hols, everywhere booking up for that really early this year.

Do you mean £1K including spending money?

I think you would find a nice holiday cottage for £700/800 plus, maybe a bit more (I am used to looking for five) in the UK - south coast. Dorset is lovely.

Would you consider camping or chalet type accommodation? Have you looked at Eurocamp/Keycamp (We had a couple of holidays in a gorgeous setting through them - I know you said not France, but Normandy manor house in grounds with two pools, things for children to do, tasteful activities).

We took Dds (2 and 9) to Landal Rabbit Hill in the Netherlands first week in August in the summer holidays we booked through hoseasons and I think it was about £650 for the four of us and we were blown away by the value for money. It was fab and a very easy holiday. We took the Eurostar and the drive on the other side was around 3.5 hrs. I think Landal have many parks in the area so may be worth checking them out.

Spending money can be extra, just initially don't want to spend more than 1k.

I really like the look of the landal parks, they seem much quieter compared to eurocamp etc. DD hates busy places, somewhere like this would be perfect.
tarka we there lots of activities on site for the children? Did you pay extra for these?

mummy that place looks beautiful too.
