Can anyone recommend music or activity groups I can take ds to (27 mo)? Has to be thurs, fri or weekend. Can travel elsewhere in Surrey if necessary but was hoping there was something around here. Moved recently and haven't explored place yet.

I don't live in croydon any more, but when I did I used to take my kids to a mother and toddler at follys end church. It's on the road which has the street market. I tried a few around the area, but that was the only one that I really loved. They are a lovely bunch, very friendly and supportive.

Kelly1978 · 22/09/2006 18:42

oh forgot to say, it runs on weds and fris, 10-11.30.

plummymummy · 23/09/2006 20:03

Thanks Kelly. Will check it out.

I take DD to Messy Monsters in Sanderstead on a Friday. I think they're in West Wickham and Warlingham on a couple of other days.

Lots of churches have toddler groups.

The library has a music/singing session at some point inthe week - differs for each Croydon library.

Thanks Soupy - didn't know you were a Croydonite. That group looks like fun. Will check it out.

I'm in Sanderstead.

Which is a posh name for South Croydon without mentioning Croydon.

plummymummy · 06/10/2006 16:26

Oh ok, well I'm a Crohamite

I'm a Sanderstead-ite as well! DD is 2.5 and loved Caterpillar Music which runs just about every day of the week (except Sunday), also she loves Tumble Tots which runs most days of the week. Like Kelly1978 I used to take DD to Folly's End when I didn't work on Fridays and everyone there was really nice.

I'm a fellow Crohamite too and also looking for soft play and other activities.

Is there anywhere that you can go where you can just turn up and pay? I don't really like the classes where you have to pay for a set number and go on a set day and time.

Hello all. I have been going to folly's end for a few months and ds really enjoys it. A friendly bunch and great value. As far as soft play goes I haven't found much in the area. I take ds to the wacky warehouse (above a pub)in the collonades at croydon on Purley Way (nr croydon airport). It's quite small, but the kids seem to enjoy it.

The Phoenix Centre at Roundshaw has soft play as does the Westcroft Centre over in Carshalton - neither are Central Croydon though it is easy to get to Carshalton by bus. Further afield but with stuff geraered at over 5s too is Manic Monsters in Edenbridge which seems to be the nearest replacement for Playtown in Grants since that closed. There is also Gambadas in Bechenham but I found that to be quite pricey (they charge for adults too!)

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 00:11

I like gambados but agree it's pricey. Where is Roundshaw?

Towards Wallington. This has the address and a less than helpful map. Do you know where Wilson's school? Or Esporta?

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 20:42

thanks for link. It's near enough so we'll try it next weekend.

What's the pool like at Westcroft?

OP posts:
Ladymuck · 28/01/2007 20:48

There are two pools - a smaller toddler one which is always fairly warm. It has a couple of small slides which are fun for toddlers, and from memory some shallow steps so it is suitable for younger toddlers. There is also a full size pool with diving boards etc. Fairly pleasant (Sutton leisure facilities seem much better than Croydon). Westcroft park is also very good - good selection of play equipment, OK cafe, and plenty of squirrels and ducks to feed.

Westcrofy do a music and movement class for prewchoolers - I think that one of them is on a Friday morning. Friends used to do the music class and then tumble time. But may clash with Follys.

plummymummy · 29/01/2007 23:15

Thank you, that's really helpful. Will definitely investigate on my days off this week. Don't mind if it clashes with folly's as I don't stick to it religiously.
