Zinghy Bay Oman - enough to keep DCs amused?

Has anyone been?

Was there enough to do to keep the DCs amused? Have an 18 month old so want to be able to send the 10 and 15 year olds off to do their thing and not have to hang around with us boring adults and baby.

Are the extras really expensive too? We are not big drinkers but maybe a G&T and a bottle of wine between us each evening is abut as wild as we will get.

Alcohol is really expensive in Oman.
I have not been to Zinghy, but looked it up it seems very remote and quite 'couply'.
Have you looked at Shangri La in Muscat. Not nearly so far from the airport, but out of town. Loads of teens having a great time in the pool at Al Waha when we were there.

Thanks Lonecat.

Yes I looked at Shangri La but it looked so huge and the quotes we got were more expensive than Zinghy Bay.

Dd will be fine being sent somewhere completely alone for a fortnight as she happy to just read. DS needs exercising like a dog or he gets all huffy,

We thought the big villas would be good having the baby as on a recent holiday we found it a nightmare when she was awake and no one else was!

I would say 'no', that its not a place for youngsters. Its in a really isolated area, the kind of place that people who live in Oman go to for far flung out of the way camping trips.

Perhaps reconsider the Shangri La Resort again, The Al Waha is children orientated and don't be put off by the resort looking huge - its not.

There is also this place, its within very easy reach of the capital area, and you could go to the cinema for e.g. within about 40 mins of leaving the hotel in Bahaja Centre (mall), or Muscat City Centre (mall). Another 10 to 20 mins further down the road in the car and you'd be very central and find loads to do.

Zighy very couple orientated, although you can give the kids the thrill of the paraglide in Grin

If you want stuff to do though Shangri la much better option, always lots of kids and they entertain each other

Zighy Bay is very romantic and coupley - DH and I went and its not somewhere we would take our DCs....... Alcohol is very expensive too anywhere in this region, you dont get a decent bottle of wine for much less than £50.

The Shangri-La is huge overall but each hotel is seperate so individually they don't seem so bad. However I just tried to book for half term in October and they're full already so depends whenbyou want to go
