Somewhere nice for an anniversary in the Peak District

It's my 5 year anniversary this year. My DH's parents have kindly offered to have our 1 year old for a couple of nights so we can have a weekend away. We were thinking the Peak District as this is within 1.5 hours of them so we can drop him off on the way. Any recommendations for a nice hotel in the area? Ideally somewhere with a bit of character rather than standard hotel room. Budget will be circa £400 but for 2 nights including a nice meal somewhere maybe.

Any tips on hotels or nice restaurants would be welcome!

Fischers at Baslow? Great food, 2 nights might stretch your budget but you could stay somewhere cheaper and just eat there. I think they have a pub as well now

Fischers at Baslow is great - we ate there last weekend (got married there a number of years ago so very biased). Pretty expensive though and fairly formal. Rowleys is the pub/restaurant, also in Baslow.

The Peacock at Rowsley (near Chatsworth) is very good too. You could eat at Stones in Matlock one night which is fab.

Yay to Fischers of Baslow, we got married there as well. Beautiful area and lovely food.

Not a hotel, but we love the Hayloft B&B in Hartington. Great food at the pub in the village too. We've been there for my birthday 3 years running!

Thank you all! Will get on their websites and show my husband. Will be so nice to have a lie in!

I'd choose Losehill House
