DH working 3 months USA medical insurance?

Can anyone enlighten me on getting travel/medical insurance for the US? So many scare stories on hospital costs even for basic things.
One travel insurance co quoted £55 and one int'l medical insurance co quoted £7,500. NOT KIDDING!!!
If he goes for cheap option what if, what if, what if there's some accident and it ends up costing us thousands???
Who out there has been there n done dat?

Is the company your DH will be working for not providing medical insurance? I would get him to ask and check as he will definitely need it. Medical bills can run into thousands of $ if he was taken into hospital for whatever reason. Don't want to scare you but it's the one of the things that I dislike about living in the US.

When DH or I work abroad we are always covered by our employer's insurance. I never used it but DH had to in the US.

Sorry but if it is for work than the employer will have to cover and pay the costs. I would ask first thing on Monday.

if he is working there most normal travel insurances will be invalid. As noted this is something to work out with the employer.

you never leave your home country without valid travel insurance. You certainly don't go to the US without it!

policy price is not a guideline. Read the small print. I think the usual recommended medical cover level is about £10M.

He is consulting out there so doesn't have an employer as such & has to sort out his own medical cover.
He has found 'business travel insurance' for £110/year and apparently covers UNLIMITED medical costs.
We will just examine the small print but sounds a but worrying!

the odds on him needing the huge sums are low, and unlimited cost coverage isn't unknown for this kind of policy.

do indeed check carefully to ensure that he is ok for working. But it isn't always necessary to pay a fortune for travel insurance. (Which is why it is crazy not to have it!)

BTW is he ok visa-wise?
