Family City Break to Berlin

We are planning a visit to Berlin in October.

Where should we stay? Am looking at Air BnB and can't decide the best area.

Is there anything in particular we should do?

Dcs will be 9, 7, 4 and 2 by then.

I know someone who stayed here

Its caravans in a large building. She found it quirky, fun and handy for sights.

River boat trip is always nice. It's a big city, so an open top bus tour does help you get your bearings.

There is a good zoo and of course WW2 related sites.

What about the Circus Hotel? Family friendly and fairly reasonable:

Things to do:

  • walk around
  • Tiergarten
  • Visit the Reichstag and walk up the dome:

Need to book in advance and take passports but it's free

  • checkpoint Charlie (tacky but must walk past at least)
  • Potsdamer Platz and the lego
  • visit parts of the Berlin wall
  • Brandenburg gate

And as others have said, zoo, bus trip, boat trip. There are some great museums about the war and post-war but probably too much for your 4.

Berlin is really nice so v.jealous.

We spent 5 days in Berlin in July (2 adults, ds(6) and ds(1)). We did everything that Pushka said plus Tempelhof airport and the Lego discovery centre.
The tiergarten is great, as is the zoo. We stayed near to an UBahn station so it was always relatively easy to get around.

We had a great time and would definitely go back again.
