Please tell me where we should head tomorrow to escape the rain in Austria. We are camping and have had a great time until now but the tent flooded today, so we want to head south tomorrow to find some sun! We are due at Lake Garda on Saturday so would aim in that general direction for a couple of nights, hoping for guesthouse type accommodation. Not sure whether to go to the Dolomites area or to the bit of coast east of Venice. I just need to narrow down my accommodation search. Any experiences of either of those areas would be so useful, feeling a bit bedraggled

how about a stop in Bolzano and visiting the mummified ice man otzi in the museum there? www.iceman.it. Is a very good museum. We went down from Innsbruck last year, was significantly hotter.

Bolzano or merano.
Merano is really nice. I stashed at the Maximilian hotel when we lived in Austria and they have a couple do holiday apartments too.
Botanical gardens are lovely, great mountain views and spa in centre of town.

Thanks so much for the replies! I will squirrel them away for my next trip. Access to wifi has been tricky for the past few days. The museum would have been great but we ended up just getting something on airbnb to allow us to dry out! Happy campers again now but with a slightly whiffy tent Grin
