A rather silly question re. cruise destinations

Yes, I've browsed Cruise Critic but it's a huge forum /website and takes ages- but I will persevere!

Meanwhile...........have been looking at med cruises and we'd love the idea of one that includes the Croatian coastline etc. However, all the med cruises are for around 17 days and quite expensive I assume this is because it actually takes that long to sail from Southampton- we don't want a fly cruise.

I wouldn't want to commit to a long cruise as my first cruise- maybe another time- but can anyone confirm that all cruises that are boat only take that long if they are southern/ eastern Med- save me scouring the web.

Yes they will be longer because as you said they have to travel to and from the location. You may get some 10-14 night ones but of course that just means less ports visited.

Thought so! Ah well..something to think on.

We've been on two med cruises, both 7 days each. I wouldn't want to spend longer.

We have flown to Corfu and Palma (Majorca).

I would also agree that 7 days is enough. We've just done our first one as a family, 7 days round the med sailing in and out of Rome. It was great but VERY full on, a week was def enough for us.

Why don't you want to fly? You'll have much more flexibility if you do. Also I've heard sailing from Southampton can be choppy.

We sailed from Southampton in May and it was fine.

We went 7 days in the Caribbean. It wasn't enough! Wanted more!
