Cheapest Flights to Menorca

Looking to travel to Menorca next July and wondering what an 'average' cost might be so that I know when to jump at a flight or if it's worth waiting for a better offer.
Would be very grateful if people could give me a ball park figure as to what they paid this year and when they booked.

Do BA fly to Menorca? It's just that I was searching Jet2/Easyjet etc for cheap flights to Majorca for next May and have ended up booking with BA from Heathrow for £900 when the 'low cost' airlines were wanting at least £1,650 (2 adults 3 children).

It means driving to Heathrow from Sheffield, but for that amount of saving I am willing to do that! The flight times are better too than all the flights I was looking at from East Midlands/Manchester/Leeds Bradford.

Our flights are going out on Fri 22nd May and coming back Monday 1st June.

Check sky scanner out.??

Imperial · 29/07/2014 23:03

Thank you. Sky scanner currently coming up with BA (from London City Airport) for £850 for 2 adults and 3 children. Seems like that might be quite reasonable especially as with BA we don't have to pay extra for car seats/buggy etc.

Same dates for Alicante only £390 with BA which is where we usually fly to but we're off to a wedding in Menorca.

We fly Manchester to Mahon every August with Monarch for 2 weeks. We try to book Jan/Feb time for the best price. It usually costs around £800 for 4 of us. If we book later the price really gets hiked up.

Imperial · 29/07/2014 23:39

Can I ask how much extra you usually get stung for with Monarch for hold baggage/pre booked seats etc.? They come up so reasonable but then I wonder if all the extra charges for 5 of us will double the price?

We take 2 cases which are £20 each each way so that's an additional £80. I don't pre book seats as it's another £60 and so far we've always sat together or an adult with a child. We do try to get to the airport early ish though to try to make this happen.

That's another reason why I liked BA - no hidden extras, you get a free snack and drink on the plane and the kids get an activity bag. With Jet2, before I looked at BA, we were thinking we'd try to manage with one hold bag and then carry as much as we could as hand luggage (which would have been a pain with three children and a pushchair as well) just because you have to pay to put bags in the hold.

Just out of interest I went back to the Jet2 website last night and it's now £2,000 for same dates that I have booked with BA!

Am also a BA fan because of the lack of extra charges. Sounds like it's definitely worth booking asap. Thanks for the help.

weve just booked Ryanair from east midlands...great day flights for £830 for 4 of us including 2 bags each way and prebooked seats...pretty good for last minute

We went to Menorca last July from Liverpool with Easyjet. We booked as soon as the flights went on sale and it cost £600 for 2 adults and 2 children including 3 hold bags. They were the cheapest by a long way.
