Venice hotel or apartment recommendations please

Just for a couple of nights but we are a family of 5 so probably need 2 rooms in a hotel or a small apartment. Fairly tight budget so can't do anything too luxurious. Also any must do things for a couple of days in Florence please. Dcs are teens. Any recommendations or websites for accom to try for the Venice 2 days. Thanks.

We stayed at the Best Western Sant Elena in Venice and got a good deal in March. I think it was under 90 euros for a family room through booking.com. The rooms we stayed in we're around a beautiful little courtyard.

It's on the quieter end of the Island, but you are only 4 stops from St Marks on the water bus - plus point is that you are one stop from the island of Lido where the restaurants are cheaper for an evening meal and there is a lovely beach if you get fed up of crowds, plus a supermarket.

Cheaper less touristy Cafes and restaurants are all at the back end of the island around Cannaregio.

You're probably sorted by now but we stayed here a couple of months ago. Giuseppe and Anna the owners are v friendly! Great pool.

Thanks very much. Have booked a hotel in main bit which is not too bad price wise although more than we would normally spend. I will report back :) Bree that seems a nice place thanks for the recommendation.
