Hello,
I send the passport application through PO check service on 19th March 2014. After various of phone call and the same explanation ‘your papers are being process’ I received a letter with the request of further documentation covering the period 1/02/2009-1/02/2014. I need to point out that I already sent them documents covering the period 5/04/2008-5/04/2013 including HMRC letter showing when I started my Self Employment, three letters from Student Finance, driving license and my one passport.. I was upset that after 10 weeks of waiting I received letter with a request of evidence that I already sent so I tried to call on 0845 129 0055 (telephone number from the letter) and heard that ‘this telephone number is no longer in use’. How on official letter from institution such as HM Passport Office can be given telephone number that cannot be used? I called the Passport Adviseline (0300 222 0000) and found out that Peterborough Office existing telephone number is 0845 501 5549.
I requested the additional information from HM Revenue & Customs I asked my husband to do the same just in case. On 13th July 2014 I telephoned Peterborough Office (0845 501 5549) to ask exactly what they need from me to make sure that they can process the application. The person that picked up the call took my details and said that the case worker will call me back later that day. I wait three days for a call-back and did not get any clarification as the person did not know what documents they already have tried to convince me that I did not sent them information for year 2008/09 but suggest that I could add my husband information to support application. I also point out that they have incorrect telephone number on their letters for which she apologized. The same day I sent the following:

  • HMRC statement of mine earnings for the period 1/02/2009-1/02/2014
  • HMRC employment history for my husband for the period 1/02/2009-1/02/2014
  • Bank statements showing the receipt of Students Loans for the years 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11
  • Bank statements of my saving accounts showing that I have had £6,000 during my study period in case of need
  • Marriage Certificate and translation
  • Thames Water bill as proof of new address I also build the table to show how much money I was leaving on during the relevant period. I put an estimate of £12,000 for student’s loans as I already sent original letters but made it clear that it need to be cross reference with documents they have. On 22nd July 2014 I received letter from HM Passport Office again with the telephone number that is not in use (0845 129 0055). Asking for father’s P60 for the period 5/04/2009-5/04/2010 or the evidence of my ‘student loan and amount paid to yourself as you have confirmed you had received an estimate of £12,000’. I could not believe my eyes! Can anyone comment? Is just me that thinks that there is something wrong with people working there?

I don't really know why they'd ask for all your financial details.
Maybe you need to ask to speak to one of the supervisors?
