Hi, I'm really sorry about asking such daft questions but I haven't been on a plane since 2002!

Am I allowed to take -

Phone & headphones
Kindle
Drink

on the flight?

And am I allowed to pack shampoo and shower gel in my bag or do I need to buy it abroad??

Thanks (I'm flying to Ireland from mainland uk)

Phone & headphones - yes. Make sure the phone is charged in case they want you to prove it works
Kindle - yes. charge as above
Drink - not if it is over 100mls. Buy after security

shampoo and shower gel - if in hand luggage then they need to be in containers 100mls or less. If in hold baggage then it doesnt matter what size the containers are.

All liquids/pastes/gels (in hand luggage) need to be carried in a resealable clear bag no bigger than 20x20cm and each container would need to be 100mls or under. Each person is allowed to carry 1 clear bag of liquids.

I use small resealable freezer bags or the small ziplock freezer bags

Hi there,

Phone, headphones and Kindle all fine on flight. The drink would either have to be 100ml or less (in a bottle of 100ml capacity) or buy it once you've gone through security.

You can pack liquids up to 100ml each in hand luggage - so those travel size ones work - but total liquid ration is quite a small see-through plastic bag - about 20cm by 20cm so you might be struggling for toiletries for a week, although it is do-able.

Thanks so much :) I think I'll just buy toiletries over there, it's only Ireland haha x

generally:

if it is valuable or fragile, it goes in hand luggage. These items NEVER go in hold luggage.

unless you wear lots of different make up, the travel sizes of toiletries for a week will easily fit in the plastic bag.

You can buy larger liquids like 0.5l water and tolieteries after security and take it on the plane. But I could imagine the shops charge a fortune for shower gel and it may not your preferred one.

Thanks :) I meant just buy it when we reach our destination (gosh that sounded pompous!)
