French speeding fines

Got back from France a couple of weeks ago where we drove a hire car - my husband thought he had been flashed by a speed camera but we weren't sure until a speeding fine turned up in the post this week. Obviously the rental company passed on his details to the police.
Has anyone else had any experience of whether they would pursue this is we didn't pay it?

The fine will probably eventually end up back a the car hire place, who will pay it and charge your card for it plus their admin fees. Could end up very expensive, so I would pay it!

the car hire company didn't come down in the last shower, funnily enough. If you don't pay it you will indeed find that it has greatly increased in size, and then turns into a debt that goes on your UK records.

Why wouldn't you pay it? Hmm

If your DH was speeding and he was caught then he needs to pay it!

This happened to us...well DH. He paid.

That's what I thought - thanks for the advice everyone. Will just have to suck it up & pay it.
