We're going in a few weeks staying in Argassi. We have 2 dc's under 10. Just wanted to know if there are any things or places we should avoid or definately go/see. Think we'll go to a water park not sure what else. What did you do about money? Does everywhere accept debit cards or should we take Euro's?

I would have thought you need some Euros, you can't really put a postcard for instance on your debit card.

general Greek hints:

take some Euros!!
tell you bank where you are going and when.
make sure your EHICs are up to date as you need them with your travel insurance.
learn a few words of Greek.
if there is a bin by the toilet, that's where the paper goes. Ignore at your peril!

enjoy. Rough Guide from the library will tell you about the island.

Hi!

We went to Zante last summer, it was the best holiday we have ever had, the weather was beautiful, as was the whole island, we met lovely local people, beaches are sandy and the water so clear you can see little fish swimming.

My children were 11,8 and 6, we visited the waterpark, that was ok - kids loved it, and we went on a boat trip to see the loggerhead turtles or caretta caretta as they are called. That was an amazing day out.

Food is good and eating out is fairly cheap, souvlaki, gyros, kleftiko and stifado were all a hit.

It does get very very hot - over 40 degrees at around midday, take as much sun screen with you as it is expensive to buy.

We spent 2000 euro in 2 weeks - as a guide, ice creams were quite expensive.

Have a great Holiday x

Yes, I've been pre DC's so about 8 years ago.

It's lovely. We went on a boat trip to the caves where you can see turtles. It was the bay that is in a lot of pictures of Zante.

The food is lovely too. There are cash machines so you can withdraw money if you don't take any with you, I can't remember if you get charged a lot though.

Lj The shipwreck?

I went to Zante a couple of years ago - one thing I found is that you have to pay extra for the fridge, air con, and safe, and they can be quite pricey.

Thanks very much everyone. We are taking Euro's with us, we're just deciding how many to get here before we go.. We do have to pay extra for the air con and safe and they are quite expensive.

I stayed in Argassi! The beach wasn't brilliant - so go to Tsilivi for the day if you want a huge expanse of sand. We hired a jeep fairly cheaply and went to a monastery and driving was pretty straightforward.

I think it was called Xenos Kamara Beach Apartments and it was very nice.

Thanks Hampton court we will definately go to the beach at Tsilivi.

You can also visit the beaches of Vasilikos on the local bus from Argassi.
