Buying a Villa in Tenerife

The dw would like to buy a villa in tenerife. We went to Puerto de la Cruz with ds1 and ds2 and it was perfect (except the beach)! Any suggestion where we should buy? First time thinking of buy outside the UK so we know nothing!

If the beach isn't perfect then are you really sure this is where you want to buy? Sorry if I sound like the party pooper but please think really, really carefully about this. buying property abroad is nothing like doing it in the uk. there have been lots of tv documentaries on people who have bought property only to find it had no planning permission etc. unless you and friends and family are going to get a lot of use out of it i.e 10 weeks plus a year it just isn't worth it financially. do the maths and you will see. sorry but my sister took 3 years to sell her lovely Tenerife apartment having used it about 10% of what she thought she would. you would have to be there every school hols to make it worthwhile.

Puerto de La Cruz is in the greener i.e. wetter half of the island. Better beaches (although all artificial or black sand) on the southern end.

but listen to your mummymeister - while the worst of the building scams don't apply much on Tenerife there is a LOT to this. it is certainly not worth it as a holiday home, only to be rented out.

I looked into it - then the Euro went 1 to 1 with the pound and I ran.
