Where to break journey between Calais and South of France

Can anyone recommend anywhere? We'll be going through the tunnel around 4pm so were looking to break the journey around Orleans. Me, DH and 3 teenage boys. Cleanliness is my priority (having stayed in some dodgy French hotels in my youth!) and, as it's just an overnight stop, would prefer to keep the cost down. I keep looking on Tripadvisor etc but don't know where to start really.

we are doing a similar trip this summer and i've booked 2 rooms in ibis budget in Rouen. Each room sleeps max 3 people so you'll need 2 rooms. I've stayed in it before and it was clean and close to a supermarket and restaurants. cost is about £25 per room.

I find Etap generally ok. Clean, Parking, Wifi, reasonable cost. I don't normally bother with breakfast though.

We regularly stay at the Novotel at Orleons -le source. It's clean has a small pool and a nice restaurant. Easy access from the motorway too

What about near Poitiers...there's loads of hotels just off the motorway - the turn off for Futurescope.

When we did that route when I was much younger, we had an overnight stop in either an Ibis or a Campanille hotel near Beaune. It's a pretty place to wander around. It may be too far South for you though, as we generally did early morning crossings, arriving in Calais by 9am.
