Dawlish or Teignmouth?

We are driving from London to Cornwall in August and fancied staying one night in either Dawlish or Teignmouth on the way. Which would you recommend? And can you recommend a b&b or hotel in either place?

Teignmouth was lovely when we went, cute in an old fashioned way,cafe on the front particularly amazing...dawlish was nice but far more touristy

Thanks both. We decided to take your advice, asleeponasunbeam. Have booked into gorgeous hotel in Ilsington on Dartmoor. Will go to the beach another year!
