Has anyone been to Bali with children? Thinking of going next summer (I know it's ages away but want maximum time to enjoy researching and then looking forward to it!)
I've been as a backpacker but not since and looking for recommendations of places to stay. Will probably try and stay in 2 - 3 different places. Definitely want to stay in or near Ubud at some point and also some beach time. Husband is a keen surfer, would love the children to snorkel and do the sunrise dolphin boat trip.
Children will be 4, 7 and 10 when we go.
Accommodation would like somewhere with a pool to keep the children happy but definitely not a huge resort Hyatt type place.
I'd really appreciate any recommendations of places to stay as well as places to visit / things to do while we're there. Thanks!

Took my children there 4 years ago and we stayed in ubud. We booked a villa with pool on flip key which is part of the trip advisor web site.
Lots of lovely restaurants in ubud and good base for ds trips.

Ubud is lovely. I didn't have children at the time but [http://www.nefatari-bali.com/index.html Nefatari] is still one of the nicest places we've ever stayed and fairly reasonable too for what you get. We stayed at the end of a three week trip - you get a private pool, shuttle service including airport transfers, free snacks in the room and the on-site restaurant is great. Really friendly place.

For beach Sanur was probably my favourite one on Bali itself but not in Indonesia as a whole.

Nusa Lembongan off the coast is quite popular although we didn't have a great time there as I got quite sick but have a Google and see what you think. It's very easy to get to from Bali.
