Fantasy five nights away with children...

Where would you go??

I am hitting 40 next year and would love to go away with DH and the children for a few nights but not a whole week. I am going nuts looking at various options so thought I would ask Mumsnet!!

Would love:
a villa with a pool or a not too busy hotel - something really beautiful if possible.
Would ideally be overlooking the sea
Would be within walking distances of some restaurants - nothing super fancy just fresh and lovely.

We love staying in villas with the children as they have the freedom to play and be noisy and free (DH is a worry guts so a massive pool would stress him out!!) but I do not want to be cooking so I would prefer a hotel from that perspective.

We used to stay at the Marbella Club regularly but 1500euros per night is a bit more than we can spend right now!!! (in-laws used to pay!) but that was such a perfect set-up, private villa with pool with hotel facilities….

I've just read that back and realised that what I really wanted was your list of beautiful places to stay as a family of five - too much information in my previous post Smile

Hipotels Eurotel Punta Rotja on the Costa de los Pinos in Marbella is lovely. Get flights to Palma then hire a car and drive out to the east coast (takes just over an hour and is clearly signposted, roads are nice to drive on).

The hotel is medium sized but has a nice, quiet atmosphere. There is a small children´s pool and the main pool is divided into 2 so each half is still not that big. Also children´s play area, ping pong and pool tables in a shaded area between the pool and the beach.

The hotel has its own private beach too and the sea there is gorgeous for swimming.

In the actual village there is a lovely, reasonably priced Italian/Spanish restaurant. The hotel itself has a couple of restaurants. Also a 2 minute drive away is a beach restaurant where you can get lovely seafood (also not expensive) and a little further there are more restaurants - the hotel will arrange a taxi if you don´t want to drive.

If you don´t know Marbella the costa de los Pinos is calm, relaxed and gorgeous, physically and mentally very far from Palma, etc. !

Wherever you end up, have a lovely birthday and holiday.

SORRY! I put "Marbella" twice above when I meant to put "MALLORCA". Apologies for any confusion. I´m talking about the Balearic island of Mallorca. This is the hotel, it´s the only one on Costa de los Pinos: www.hoteleurotelmallorca.com

Happy - Do you mean Majorca?? I was going to say that Majorca is top of my its as a destination as I met DH there. Will check it out now, thank you.

Lovely choice! We have eaten there but not stayed, the restaurant is called the Sea Club, I think, anyway, it´s really nice. The location is great but you need a car to go anywhere else at all. You can go there for your birthday if you get a babysitter from the hotel.

Any other suggestions????
