Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach

BaconAndAvocado · 13/07/2014 12:17

Going to Florida next year and am already into OCD planning mode!

DCs will be 7,8 and 17.

Don't think we'll have time or energy to do both!

Love the idea of a lazy river that we can all go on at the same time!

Tia

I'm biased because I nearly drowned at Typhoon Lagoon so Blizzard Beach for me .

Pushka2 · 13/07/2014 13:00

I haven't been to Blizzard Beach not Typhoon Lagoon but when I was doing our research, it seemed TL was a bit better for families (we had 11, 2 x 9's and a 5 nearly 6).

We really liked TL and there was enough to keep all of the adults amused as some of the slides are a bit fast. Have heard good things about Blizzard Beach as well so I don't think you can go wrong with either.

BaconAndAvocado · 13/07/2014 13:12

Crikey flora how odd that happen?

My lot all vote typhoon lagoon.

TL has lots of lovely tropical theming, Blizzard Beach is a bit odd in terms of theming. We've done typhoon lagoon much more than BB, but I think we're going to do BB this trip, as the junior section has more that appeals to dd (10). As well as the toddler section there's an area which is designed for those kids which aren't quite up to the big slides but were beyond the baby ones. We last were there when she was 6 and it was a little old for her but I think at 10 she'll love it.
But I'm going to try and get to both if we can.

umiaisha · 16/07/2014 14:42

We have done both and couldn't choose between the two either!

The seaworld water park is pretty awesome too.

Fragglewump · 16/07/2014 14:43

Yes to both!

ElephantsNeverForgive · 16/07/2014 14:47

Ive only been to typhoon Lagoon and really enjoyed it.

Your 17y will love the giant wave.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 16/07/2014 14:51

Probably doesn't apply to the OP, but did to us. They were very hot on the hight limit and gave DD2 a band to indicate she 'just' touched it.

She'd done big slides in the Algarve and at Centre parks before no bother and would have been really upset.

BaconAndAvocado · 16/07/2014 19:19

Sorry flora only just reread my post. Meant to ask how did that happen?

So,both spund great........the ginormous wave sounds awesome!

TL all the way!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 16/07/2014 20:00

I loved both but I think typhoon lagoon was a little more relaxed.

Because of the Disney ticket package we bought we had unlimited access to the water parks so we used to just pop in for a couple of hours in the late afternoon to cool off after being in the theme parks for most of the day.

I actually found both waterparks quite reviving and a welcome relief after the madness of the Disney theme parks.

groovejet · 17/07/2014 07:30

What time of year are you going? Just asking as if it is the latter part of the year they tend to close one of the waterparks for refurb.

ChestyNut · 17/07/2014 18:12

We did Aquatica as discovery cove ticket had Seaworld and Aquatica included Grin

BaconAndAvocado · 17/07/2014 22:04

groovejet we are going next August.

I prefer Typhoon Lagoon but my DC (9 & 12) prefer Blizzard Beach. My crazy DS was happily going down the largest slides at Blizzard Beach last year when he was 11!

I find BB too white and bright and prefer the tropical feel of TL.

Hulababy · 20/07/2014 12:35

We normally go to TL as DD has always enjoyed the wave pool and the lazy river.

I am not keen on water parks anyway so we compromise and only do one during the fortnight, we get there early and leave in time for lunch.

We go again this summer and we are considering BB instead as we haven't been to that one for a while.

ihatethecold · 21/07/2014 20:59

Definitely typhoon lagoon,
I love that place.

Wasn't as keen on blizzard beach.

ContentedSidewinder · 22/07/2014 23:10

It's like asking to choose between children, they both have good stuff Grin

TL - we enjoyed the wave pool but read up on it on AllEars.net or the likes, as the floor is like sandpaper so you can come a cropper when that tidal wave hits. It is very strong. I have two sons 11 and 8 who were fine as they were in deep water but if you are in the shallow bit you can get knocked off your feet and dragged.

TL has the shark pool you snorkel across.

BB has I think a better lazy river as it is longer but the family raft ride is up a huge number of steps, so you either get the best workout of your thighs or queue for the ski lift (DH does not do heights so steps it was)

BB has a good pool with waves and lots of people float around in the rings.

We stayed longer at BB probably because of the raft ride and the lazy river.

Check height restrictions for the slides.
