I work at a school so I have 6 weeks off, it's just me and my DD aged 16.
We like beaches, castles, museums.

We have a tent but it's a family tent, it's a hassle to put up so if we take it anywhere we have to stay there for at least a few days to justify the hassle.

So really, if we go camping to lots of places I will ideally but a new easier to erect tent.

We have £800 to spend.
I was hoping I would have enough for a cheap package deal abroad but I think we'll just miss out on having enough money for that, that's also why I haven't properly thought about this before.

We could stay at home and do lots of days out, get in the car with the tent, go to some B&Bs, loads of things.

We've already been to London twice this year so we don't want to go again and probably not city breaks either.

All suggestions appreciated please.

This idea will only work if you don't live in Devon...it would be pushing the journey time a bit too far!!!

I'm working all summer as I've just opened a shop but my husband is disappearing to the Outer Hebrides with our (nearly 14) DD and the tent.
You can get ferries (google Caledonian MacBrayne) and hop on and off them from Barra (at the bottom) to Stornaway (at the top) or the other way round. The pitches are about £10 a night and if you took loads of food you'd easily do it in your budget. The beaches are the best there are (google Horgabost campsite) and it would be a memorable road trip for the two of you!! Lots of historical stuff to explore too.

Thank you for your response.

I don't live in Devon, but pretty close, I'm in Dorset!
But it does sound very lovely.

Wow £800 is easily enough for a holiday abroad! I'm hoping to find something last minute for 8 of us for less than £2000. Have you checked out icelolly? They have loads of all inclusive holidays for around £200 per person. And I love that you can search all destinations and play around with duration and dates. I'm just waiting for my step kids passports to come back then I'll be booking through them. Happy holiday hunting!
