baggage fees with Monarch

I've booked four flights with Monarch this summer and understand that I need to pay an additional allowance for luggage to go in the hold.
I am a little infuriated to see that I need to pay for every passenger in the booking to get a baggage allowance.
Two of our party are young children and don't need 20kg worth of luggage, particularly at a cost of £26 each way. On-line booking does not allow an option of just two cases.

Does anyone know if we just turn up at the airport can we check-in just a couple of bags and get around this bizarre rule? I have tried calling customer services without success.
Thanks

Are you sure you have read it correctly as we are flying with monarch in summer and have only booked 2 pieces of hold luggage between 3 of us? Have travelled with them a lot and not come across this?

You can add as many or few cases as you like (up to a maximum) regardless of how many people on the booking. We've just flown with monarch, 2 adults, 1 child, 1 suitcase (you have to pay both directions remember!).
Do not turn up at the airport with luggage without pre booking because it's a lot more expensive and there's no way to get around the charges!!

For some reason, the on line link in my confirmation email added bags for the children when I just clicked ones for adults.
Monarch have now sent me another link and it has allowed just two bags Grin
I wondered if it was some glitch with booking through Expedia.

Very happy as the £100 saved will pay for a nice day trip.
Thanks for your help. Can't tell you how excited we are to be going on our first non-camping family holiday abroad. I think the dc are more excited about travelling on a plane for the first time than anything else Smile
