Monte Carlo - Monaco

Hi, I'm turning 40 in a few years - and starting to plan (I know, I know!!).
I used to love going to casino's in my younger days, and have always wanted to go to Monte Carlo.

Has anyone been?
How much can I expect to pay?
Is there a minimum spend in the casinos?

Any advice appreciated!

I went for my 40th with 2 girlfriends. Stayed pretty central. Didn't go to the casino. Not our thing! I booked here for dinner one night. Amazing! Expensive but worth it.

I've been, but stayed just into France. It is amazing, and you need to accept that amazing comes at a price. I seem to remember that I didn't have much change from 50 Euros for 3 cokes at the Cafe de Paris in Casino Square.

Went to the Casino, but only got as far as the slot machines.

We went to cafe de Paris too. It was late so just had coffee and desserts.

Stay in Nice. It's much cheaper and is just a few train stops on a lovely coastal train route that takes you to Monte Carlo, San Remo, Cannes, etc etc.

Yes, you can even get a 1 Euro bus from Nice to Monte Carlo which doesn't take long and is very scenic. Nice is good value and has a good range of hotels.
