Confused by holiday pricing

Looking at package holidays for me, DH and DS 20 months. The prices say 'per person from £424' so I would expect that to come in around £850 yet the final price is £1200ish. So are they charging for DS? I thought you didn't pay for infants, or is that just for flights? Should I just ignore the prices altogether?! We want to go away for 1 week in September.

The clue is in the wording per person "from" ...........

Are you looking at package holidays or booking hotel and flights.

by the time any of the following have been added on, the cost can look very different:
in-flight meals
transfers
cc fees
hold luggage
extra luggage-golf clubs, skiis etc
room supplements
flying from different airport
sea view rooms
flying at different times of the day
extra legroom
pre bookable seats ....and on and on

It all depends when you go and also for how long and what room category.

We just booked our Easter holiday next year and the brochure price and what we paid differed a lot as we stay 11 instead of the advertised 7 days and have a different room. We also go in peak time.

Some companies also charge a fixed fee for a toddler, some don't.

"From" is the cheapest time when few people go. Probably late March and late in the season. The hotel may charge for a toddler but I suspect the cost is due to the time of year you are going. Was this to clear in the brochure?
